All adventurer and nature-lovers might want to join an additional one day trek off the beaten path in the jungle nearby Bukit Lawang, close to the little local town Berkail. This area hasn’t been established for tourism and the biggest part of it has been kept in its origin. A local guide can show you the beauty of the green nature, where lucky-ones might also encounter wild orangutans and other wildlife such as poisoned snakes, deers or various monkey kinds.

Around 8 am you will start after your breakfast at the guest house and get on the back of the motorbike with your guide for around one hour to reach the starting point for the trek, passing by the local villages of Sumatra. For the next hours until lunch time you will explore the depths of the jungle, its flora and fauna and look for wild animals. Depending on the condition of the path, you may be able to reach and explore a cave in that area.

At the riverside your guides will prepare an Indonesian barbecue with fresh fish, chicken, rice and vegetables, as well as a variety of fruits for you. There is also an option for vegetarians / vegans.

Having gained energy again and freshened up while swimming in the river, you will get on the back of the motorbike again and pass the bumpy roads until we reach your guest house in Bukit Lawang.
